Job Overview Public Health Program Specialist I – a grant‑funded classified position (salary grade 4) in the Pima County Health Department, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. The position will be hired from the $19.16–$22.51 hourly range, with an additional range of $19.16–$25.86 hourly for full and part‑time work. Grant funding ends September 2029. The first review of applications will be on 03/27/2026. Essential Functions Assist in organizing program activities, timelines, and resources to ensure smooth program execution. Work collaboratively with program staff to carry out program objectives and deliverables. Provide support in tracking program progress and maintaining documentation. Participate in community outreach, engagement, and input gathering to understand community needs. Support organization and facilitation of community meetings, workshops, and events. Maintain program documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence. Provide administrative support to program managers and coordinators, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing materials. Handle routine administrative tasks as required. Stay informed about public health best practices and trends through ongoing learning and training opportunities. Seek opportunities for professional growth within the public health field. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent AND one year of experience in a public health program related field. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) Qualifications must be documented in the application’s Education and Work Experience sections. Preferred Qualifications Minimum three (3) months of experience providing breastfeeding consultation. Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and data entry. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Licenses and Certificates Valid driver’s license required at time of application. A valid Arizona Class D driver’s license needed at time of appointment. A 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review will be conducted to determine suitability to operate county vehicles. Failure to obtain and maintain required licensure may result in termination. Additional Requirements Successful candidates will be subject to a post‑offer, pre‑employment background screening to verify work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A satisfactory personal background investigation may be required for positions that involve access to county facilities and records.
