Food Runner – Job Description Position Summary The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to guests quickly, accurately, and professionally. The Food Runner works closely with cooks, expo, servers, and managers to ensure every dish reaches the correct table with the proper presentation and temperature. Responsibilities Pick up completed food orders from the kitchen and deliver them promptly to the correct table. Verify table numbers, seat positions, and food items before leaving the kitchen. Check that plates are complete, properly presented, and have the correct sides and garnishes. Follow all allergy and special-request instructions carefully. Announce dishes clearly when placing food in front of guests. Handle plates safely and professionally. Never serve food that appears incorrect, incomplete, or below restaurant standards; notify expo or a manager. Communicate with servers and kitchen staff regarding missing or delayed items. Assist with bringing condiments, sauces, utensils, and other items requested by guests. Help maintain a clean and organized expo and food-running area. Assist with clearing unnecessary dishes when appropriate. Help servers and other front-of-house staff during busy periods. Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. Complete assigned opening, side-work, and closing duties. Follow instructions from the Expo, Shift Manager, or other designated manager. Requirements Friendly, professional, and team-oriented attitude. Ability to work quickly and remain organized during busy service. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify menu items. Good communication skills.Ability to safely carry multiple plates or serving trays. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Dependable and punctual. Restaurant experience preferred but not required. Performance Expectations Food Runners are expected to prioritize speed, accuracy, food quality, teamwork, and guest service .
