Automotive Reconditioning Service Technician/Mechanic

Description

Anchorage, AK | Mercedes-Benz | Hospitality | Reconditioning | Used vehicle | Pre-owned | Flat-rate | Mechanical experience required | Any brand welcome | Alaska | Veterans encouraged to apply | $22 - $27/hr flat rate

IS THIS YOU?

• You have solid mechanical experience and you work efficiently -- you can assess a used vehicle, identify what it needs, complete the work accurately, and move on to the next one without losing quality

• You don't need Mercedes-Benz experience to do this job well -- your mechanical fundamentals, your eye for what's wrong with a vehicle, and your pace are what matter here

• You're looking for a stable flat-rate role in Anchorage where your throughput drives your earnings and your work directly determines how quickly pre-owned inventory hits the lot

WHO WE ARE

Swickard Auto Group is a hospitality company that happens to sell and service cars. We believe the best guest experiences start with the best employee experiences. That's why we've grown to 40+ rooftops across the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii while maintaining a culture built on one simple idea: do right by people, every time.

At Mercedes-Benz of Anchorage, every pre-owned vehicle we put in front of a guest has to be right -- mechanically sound, properly inspected, and frontline ready. The Reconditioning Technician is the person who makes that happen. This role is focused exclusively on used vehicle reconditioning: assessing incoming trade-ins and pre-owned inventory, completing the mechanical work needed to get each vehicle to our standard, and turning vehicles around efficiently so they're available for guests without unnecessary delay.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Perform thorough mechanical inspections on incoming used and trade-in vehicles -- identifying all items needed to bring each vehicle to frontline-ready condition

• Complete reconditioning work efficiently and accurately -- oil and fluid services, brakes, tires, belts, filters, minor mechanical repairs, and safety-related items across a variety of makes and models

• Document all inspection findings and completed work accurately on repair orders -- clear records support pricing decisions and protect the store from liability

• Coordinate with the used vehicle manager and service team on reconditioning priorities -- the goal is fast, accurate turnaround that keeps pre-owned inventory moving

• Flag items beyond the scope of reconditioning -- major mechanical issues, structural concerns, or work requiring specialized equipment -- and escalate appropriately

• Work efficiently on a flat-rate structure -- your throughput and your accuracy both show up in your paycheck

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2+ years of mechanical or automotive technician experience -- required. Any brand background welcome: domestic, import, or luxury

• Mercedes-Benz experience not required -- reconditioning work spans multiple makes and models and your mechanical fundamentals are what this role depends on

• Comfortable performing a broad range of maintenance and minor repair work across different vehicle platforms -- oil services, brakes, tires, fluids, filters, and safety items

• Efficient and accurate -- flat-rate reconditioning rewards technicians who can assess a vehicle quickly, complete the work correctly, and move on without rework

• ASE certifications a plus -- not required

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

WHAT WE OFFER

• $22 - $27/hr flat rate -- your throughput and accuracy drive your earnings directly

• 401(k) plan

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance

• Life insurance and supplemental coverage options

• Paid time off and paid holidays

• Career growth -- strong reconditioning technicians at Swickard grow into line technician and full-service roles with progressive pay plans and factory certification support

• Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts

WHY MERCEDES-BENZ OF ANCHORAGE
