Position Summary The individual in this role owns the vision, strategy, and prioritization of the PLM platform level features to meet business and technical needs. They enable platform and product squads by driving technical delivery and value realization for MedTech Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) globally. As part of the MedTech R&D Product Lifecycle domain, this role will work with business owners, product management, portfolio partners, architecture and suppliers in PLM and digitally connected domains to align the direction and solution intent while managing a multi-million-dollar budget. This person will drive business value and outcomes related to MedTech R&D PLM solutions and connected digital capabilities to enhance capabilities, insights, business processes, and automations for the MedTech sector-wide PLM platform. They will deeply understand user needs and expected business value, delivering solutions that unlock efficiency and drive progress against critical metrics to improve MedTech R&D, specifically in the domain of R&D PLM. Major Duties & Responsibilities Visionary leader primarily responsible for platform/product strategy and ensuring business value realization and outcomes Own end‑to‑end platform lifecycle activities including technical leadership driving the vision, strategy, prioritization, delivery, and performance management for the platform Enable AI‑driven and data‑centric lifecycle processes across the ecosystem Ensure scalability, reliability, and standardization while reducing fragmentation across OpCos and legacy systems Cross‑functional alignment with product, architecture, and portfolio teams; collaborate with Product Owners and Product/Platform Architects to build a technical backlog that optimizes business value Work in close partnership with the Platform Architect and technology counterparts to manage cross‑team dependencies, refine technical backlog, and balance functionality, business value, technical feasibility, cost, and delivery timelines Strong vendor management and partnership with suppliers; act as the expert in the field understanding latest tech trends in PLM Drive the interaction model between product and platform teams for short, medium, and long‑term business and technical needs; maintain clear cadences, standards, and best practices Ensure the PLM platform fits into the broader Enterprise Architecture guidelines and standards, such as APIs, security controls, approved technologies, and data standards Drive selection of platform solutions, including build versus buy decisions; collaborate with Lead Engineers on the architecture of critical capabilities Manage effort to build financial budgets and resource plans based on solution objectives, key deliverables, and timing Accountable for PLM System Change Control, Risk Management Processes, and related IT procedures across the platform and products Drive continuous improvement across the platform and products through automation, insights, metrics, best practices, and coaching Product Owners and Managers on platform consumption best practices Engage in an Office Operations role to process onboarding and offboarding of stable team resources; implement necessary ISRM, GxP, SOX, Asset management, and other compliance control processes Manage a team of individual contributors and/or supervisors; conduct effective performance management Responsible for on‑call rotations, lead incident triage and restoration, and drive root‑cause analysis with corrective and preventive actions Qualifications Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field 10+ years of progressively advanced duties as specified below Skills Expert in domain products and the tech stack used within the J&J PLM domain, principally with PTC Windchill and ThingWorx Expert in Product Development and Manufacturing business processes, applying software solutions to solve business problems and accelerate new product introduction Demonstrable experience leading teams of employees and/or contractors, including goal setting and career development Experience leading multiple global efforts with time and cost constraints in a fast‑paced regulated environment Experience in software product development lifecycle, leading a product backlog, managing release plans, removing blockers, and leading teams operating in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Strong facilitation, collaboration, and influencing skills; ability to form relationships, empower and collaborate at all levels and across the regional and global organization Track record of tackling problems creatively and executing technology solutions to meet business needs, providing technology and resource estimates and plans Strong commitment to continuous process improvement Experience in vendor management, creating technology product vision and strategies Experience building and integrating products with platform, data management, API architecture/design, and Cloud Native technologies Experience engineering products over their lifecycle in a multi‑team/channels context Demonstrates AI Fluency—the ability to use and evaluate AI technologies responsibly (with a primary focus on generative AI in the workplace) to improve productivity and decision quality while maintaining human accountability, managing risk, and complying with applicable governance, privacy, security, and policy requirements. Salary & Benefits The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $122,000 – $211,025. Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, business accident insurance, group legal insurance, pension, 401(k).
