SSR (Substantiated Security Risk) Unit Base Pay Adjustments Plus Institution Incentives $54,682 - $55,704 The salary amounts represent the minimum and maximum ranges based on years of current agency service plus incentive structures at SCDC. It is important to note that not all individuals may qualify for the highest tier of base pay adjustments and incentives. Special Incentive: Employees assigned to the Maximum-Security Unit receive a $3,000.00 incentive. Kirkland CI – Close Institution Positions Available. Multiple shifts available. Responsibilities Provide direct supervision of all wing activities and functions. Conduct security, safety, and health inspections at least every 30 minutes on an irregular basis. Record these security checks in the MSU Logbook and on the Zebra Scanners. Prepare and submit written reports of all events. Maintain surveillance and search for contraband. Ensure that the highest standard of cleanliness and sanitation are maintained at all times. Ensure that multi-threat vests and face shields are properly worn by all staff when present on the wing. Be knowledgeable of emergency evacuation policies and procedures. Conduct an inventory of all equipment and keys. Maintain and operate security devices such as gates, doors, weapons, and mechanical devices. Ensure that all inmates are strip‑searched and restrained to the highest level of security prior to entering or exiting the cell. Ensure (2) officers are present at all times whenever a cell door is open. Report inmate complaints for appropriate action to be taken. Minimum and Additional Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen. 18 years of age or older. High school graduate or GED. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head; tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis. Must pass a medical assessment administered by SCDC. Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within the first six months of placement into the position.
