Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of experience, Epic proficiency, and a willingness to float across a regional hospital network on night shifts.

Details

• Work in a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit at a 337-bed community hospital
• Patient population includes stroke, seizure, altered mental status, generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
• Standard RN patient ratio is 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Floating required within Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital); candidates unwilling to float to all listed facilities should not apply
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• IV Pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; patient monitors: Philips; communication: Rover
• No remote telemetry monitoring — telemetry reading and posting each shift is the responsibility of the unit clerk, charge/clinical supervisor, and staff nurses

Requirements

• Active RN license in NC or a compact state currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General medical/surgical nursing skillset required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a free-floating charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, a 24/7 IV/VAT team, a unit-dedicated pharmacist, two case managers, a Med/Surg Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 respiratory therapy (including nebulizer treatments), a nurse educator, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and APP support
• Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) session plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• RNs are required to wear navy blue scrubs
• The unit culture is described as family-oriented
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
