Registered Nurse - Inpatient Adolescent Behavioral Unit

Job Description

The Registered Nurse is an essential member of the patient care team, responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care. In this role, the RN will be responsible for working alongside an interdisciplinary team to provide day-to-day care of children and adolescents, ages 6-18, on an inpatient Adolescent behavioral unit. The primary diagnoses treated are major depression and ADD/ADHD. The RN will be responsible for medication administration and education, daily documentation of patient care, and managing/monitoring behaviors throughout the unit. Additionally, the RN will participate in and lead education groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in accordance with established protocols.
• Administer and educate patients on medications.
• Document daily patient care activities accurately.
• Monitor and manage patient behaviors throughout the unit.
• Participate in and lead educational group sessions for patients.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
• Valid State of Maine RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• 1-3 years previous nursing experience working with adults preferred, with at least 1 year of nursing experience required.
• CPI Training is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Able to effectively manage stress and set professional boundaries.
• Dedicated team player and self-directed in a busy environment.

Schedule

This position requires 3x 12-hour shifts - Nights. Candidates must be willing to float to Chemical Dependency/Detox as needed.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
