Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (12-Hour Nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Expected 36–48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias via continuous telemetry; perform IV starts and administer medications per protocol
• Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for documentation and communication
• Work every other weekend as required; make up any missed weekend shifts based on unit needs
• Float to other Medical Surgical / Telemetry areas within the facility as needed, which may include COVID care units
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date for this specialty

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience
• Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts prior to applying — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Demonstrated experience with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• NIH / NIHSS certification required
• Local candidates are welcome to apply; a lower rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Prior experience caring for stroke or neurosurgical patient populations
• Familiarity with Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) workflows or similar specialty neuro environments
