Human Resources Generalist (Bilingual English/Spanish)

Location: Sebastopol, CA
Schedule: Full-Time
Assignment: Temporary – 3 Month Contract
Pay: $35–$45+/hour DOE

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and thrives in a hands-on environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing human resources, payroll, benefits administration, and office support while ensuring compliance and maintaining a positive workplace culture.

The ideal candidate is confident, highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and willing to jump in wherever needed. This is a collaborative role that requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain employee handbooks, job descriptions, personnel files, and HR records.
• Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, and exit interviews.
• Support recruiting efforts, including screening candidates and coordinating interviews.
• Maintain employee compensation records and salary data.
• Ensure compliance with California employment laws and HR best practices.
• Lead workplace safety initiatives and maintain OSHA compliance.
• Manage workers' compensation claims and workplace injury investigations.

Payroll

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
• Track PTO, sick leave, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and HSA/FSA deductions.
• Process employee status changes, including new hires, promotions, leaves of absence, and terminations.
• Assist with year-end payroll reporting, audits, and retirement plan administration.

Benefits Administration

• Administer employee health benefits, enrollments, renewals, eligibility, and deductions.
• Audit benefits records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Answer employee questions regarding benefits and payroll.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
• Experience processing payroll is required.
• Strong knowledge of California labor laws, HR compliance, and employment practices.
• Experience administering employee benefits.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Confident decision-maker with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• Must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and supporting a variety of HR and payroll functions.
• Must be confident, self-motivated, and able to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
