Summary: The Patient Safety Monitor In-Person provides continuous, in-person observation of patients who require additional monitoring to help maintain their safety while receiving care. This position remains with the assigned patient and closely observes for changes in appearance or behavior, attempts to get out of bed, interference with medical equipment, or other potential safety concerns, immediately notifying the Nursing Team when intervention or further assessment is needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous visual observation of assigned patients in accordance with established patient safety procedures and Nursing Team direction.
• Monitor patients for attempts to get out of bed, pull at or interfere with medical equipment, or engage in other behaviors that could create a safety concern.
• Observe for changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, condition, or level of activity and immediately communicate concerns to the Nursing Team.
• Maintain a safe patient environment while providing calm, respectful, and person-centered support throughout the monitoring period.
• Follow established hospital policies, procedures, infection prevention practices, confidentiality requirements, and directions provided by the Nursing Team.

Required Skills and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and life experience.
• Ability to remain attentive and maintain continuous observation for extended periods of time.
• Ability to recognize and promptly communicate changes in patient behavior, appearance, or activity to the appropriate member of the Nursing Team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully and compassionately with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to follow established instructions, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements in a healthcare environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a healthcare, patient care, caregiving, customer service, or other people-focused environment preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while continuously observing an assigned patient.
• Ability to move throughout the patient care environment as necessary to maintain appropriate observation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location, Travel and Shift Requirements

This is an in-person position within a patient care environment. No routine travel is required. Schedule and shift requirements may vary based on departmental and patient care needs, including potential evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage.

Pay Range Disclosure

Standard Rate of $16.94 - $19.50 per hour plus benefits
