Cleaning Supervisor (Job Reference: 26003763)Primary Location : Armagh-Armagh-St Malachy's Primary School ArmaghContract Type : PermanentDuration of Contract/Contract End Date : N/AStatus : Part-TimeHours per Week : 15 hrs per weekWorking Pattern : Monday to Friday (3:00pm to 6:00pm)Grade/Scale : Cleaning Supervisor (Up to 15 Staff) (Cleaning Services) | NJC pt 11 - 14 | £14.9917 - £15.7367 per hourAdditional Allowance(s) : Not ApplicableAnticipated Interview Date(s) : TBCAdditional Information: N/AJOB DESCRIPTIONCLEANING SUPERVISORResponsible to: Designated line managerResponsible for: The supervision of cleaning staff at a specified locationJob Purpose: To provide a cleaning service within a building or building complex to agreed standards.1.0 Duties and Responsibilities1.1 Plan, organise and control the work of cleaning staff to ensure that EA standards are met, it being understood that the cleaning supervisor personally undertake cleaning duties.1.2 Carry out induction and skills training including refresher training in line with EA practice.1.3 Liaise with the building manager or other authorised person on day today issues related to cleaning.1.4 Investigate complaints in respect of the cleaning provision, take corrective action and where appropriate advise the designated line manager.1.5 Ensure that adequate supplies of materials and light equipment are requisitioned and maintained at appropriate levels within the budget allocated and that equipment is kept in good condition, used and stored correctly.1.6 Monitor suitability and performance of materials and light equipment and advise the designated line manager where these are inappropriate for the task.1.7 Recommend and implement changes in work procedures in consultation with the designated line manager to improve economy, standards or ease of operation.1.8 Ensure that the cleaning standards within the premises meet EA standards.1.9 The allocation of keys to cleaning staff and ensuring that these are returned at the end of each day.1.10 Plan periodic work in consultation with service users and report plans to the Area Co-ordinator in advance of school closures.1.11 Ensure that all records in respect of staff attendance, holidays, absence are completed, authorised and returned to EA in good time.1.12 Maintain records of consumable stocks and inventory of equipment.2.0 General Conditions2.1 All duties must be carried out to comply with:(a) The Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978;(b) Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments and Regulations and other legal requirements;(c) The COSHH Regulations;(d) Codes of Practice.2.2 All duties will be carried out in the working conditions normally inherent in the particular job.2.3 Cover colleagues on sick leave in line with EA procedure.2.4 Absence must be reported in line with the EA’s Procedure and the relevant forms must be completed and signed by the Building Supervisor.2.5 When carrying out cleaning duties protective clothing or work wear issued must be worn.2.6 Flat-soled enclosed-toe footwear should be worn when carrying out cleaning duties.2.7 Any cleaning equipment issued must be used and cared for in an appropriate and safe manner, with any defects being reported immediately.2.8 All necessary paperwork must be completed.2.9 Duties will be carried out for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within the competence of the employee.3.0 Training3.1 Employees will accept any training for jobs graded at a higher level than their own. Payment will only be made where there is a requirement bythe authority for the higher-level duties to be carried out.3.2 Employees must accept any training to facilitate the undertaking of duties up to and including their own grade.
