Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 48 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years ED RN experience required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: - 2 years ED RN experience - BLS - ACLS - PALS - NIHSS - CPI Description: This position is for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. The facility has 109 licensed beds and is not a teaching hospital. No trauma designation is present. The unit includes 16 beds. Patients typically present with conditions such as COPD, CHF, chest pain, myocardial infarction, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor trauma. Patient ratios are RN: 1:4-5, based on acuity. General ED skillset is required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, and vent management. Familiarity with chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments is necessary. Support within the department includes CNA and charge nurse, who may or may not have patient assignments. Ancillary departments such as the IV/VAT team and respiratory therapy are available 24/7. The hospital has a 24/7 hospitalist and ED physician team. Technology used includes Epic for EMR, Alaris for IV pumps, and Omnicell for medication dispensing. Floating to other facilities may be required based on regional needs. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and will have a weekend rotation every other weekend. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Scrub color is navy.
