Unit SecretaryOur client is seeking a Unit Secretary to provide essential clerical and administrative support to an assigned nursing unit. The Unit Secretary will help maintain accurate patient records, transcribe and enter patient-care orders, organize medical documentation, and support the nursing and healthcare team to ensure the unit operates efficiently.This is a 12-hour night-shift position averaging approximately 36 hours per week. The schedule generally consists of three shifts per week with variable days and is not a block schedule. Candidates must also be available to work every other weekend or every third weekend.Key ResponsibilitiesAccurately transcribe patient-care orders and enter information into the appropriate computer systems.Provide clerical and administrative support to the assigned nursing unit.File physician orders, reports, and other patient-related documentation in medical charts promptly and accurately.Maintain organized and accessible patient records and documentation.Prioritize and organize daily responsibilities to support an efficient nursing-unit workflow.Communicate clearly and professionally with nurses, physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare team members.Answer and manage telephone calls using professional telephone etiquette.Support positive and effective working relationships among members of the healthcare team.Help maintain a safe, organized, and cost-effective work environment.Follow established hospital and nursing department procedures and standards.Complete required age-specific competencies for the assigned department.Complete all certifications and training requirements established by the Division of Nursing.Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow applicable healthcare privacy requirements.Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED.Completion of a medical terminology course.Basic computer proficiency and accurate data-entry skills.Ability to accurately transcribe patient-care orders.Knowledge of medical records and chart filing procedures.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.Professional telephone etiquette.Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.Ability and willingness to work a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.Availability for variable scheduling, generally three shifts per week.Ability to work every other weekend or every third weekend, as requiredRequired CertificationCurrent CPR certification
