Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, physically fit, and safety-minded Driver / Crew Leader to lead our seasonal field operations. In this role, you will be responsible for safely driving non-CDL box trucks (16 ft – 26 ft) to event sites, overseeing site setups and teardowns, and leading a field team made up of seasonal and temporary labor employees.

As the Crew Leader, you are the face of our company on-site and the direct supervisor of your crew. You will ensure commercial tents, tables, chairs, and staging are installed safely, accurately, and on schedule, while actively training and keeping temporary workers productive, safe, and motivated.

Key Responsibilities

1. Crew Leadership & On-Site Training

• Lead by Example: Work side-by-side with your field crew to set up and tear down large frame tents, pole tents, sidewalls, tables, chairs, and event staging.
• On-the-Job Training: Continuously train a revolving crew of temporary and seasonal workers on proper tent staking, ratcheting, equipment handling, and safety procedures.
• Site Supervision: Assign tasks, maintain crew pace, and inspect all completed installations (checking stake line tension, squareness, safety ratchets, and guy lines) before leaving the site.
• Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for clients at the event location, ensuring setup matches the layout design and securing client sign-off.

2. Driving & Vehicle Operations

• Truck Operation: Safely drive and maneuver non-CDL box trucks (up to 26 ft) and trucks with utility trailers to and from urban and rural event locations.
• Pre-Trip Inspections: Perform daily pre-trip vehicle inspections (fluids, tire pressure, straps, lights, load security).
• Load Security: Ensure all equipment is properly strapped, tied down, and balanced inside the truck to prevent damage or cargo shifts in transit.

3. Site Safety & Logistics

• Site Evaluation: Conduct a pre-work walkthrough on every site to verify overhead wire clearance, ground conditions, and 811 utility markings before driving 3-foot steel stakes.
• Safety Enforcement: Enforce mandatory PPE (steel-toe boots, gloves, high-vis wear) and heat stress protocols (hydration, forced shade breaks) for your crew.
• Inventory Control: Complete pre-load and post-teardown checklists to ensure no tools, stakes, ratchets, or rental items are left behind at the site or yard.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Driving Experience: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (CDL preferred, but non-CDL 16–26 ft box truck experience required).
• Industry Experience: 1–3 years of experience in party rentals, heavy temporary structures, landscaping, or commercial construction.
• Leadership Ability: Demonstrated ability to direct, motivate, and train unskilled or temporary labor in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical Requirements:
• • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry 75+ lbs throughout an 8- to 12-hour shift.
  • Capability to swing a 16 lb sledgehammer or operate stake drivers continuously.
  • Comfort working 100% outdoors in extreme summer heat, direct sun, and varying weather conditions.
• Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work early mornings (starting as early as 6:00 AM), long summer hours, overtime, and mandatory weekend shifts (Fridays and Sundays).

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Rate: $[19] / hour + Overtime (1.5x) after 40 hours

Skyline tent installation specialist assist in loading of their trucks as well as the setup of items, including tents and other temporary structures, at various venues and private property throughout NW Ohio and SE Michigan.

All Skyline team members will be required to work in our building and on delivery sites in a variety of weather conditions. Must have weekend availability. In addition to delivery and job site set up responsibilities all team members will be required to complete general cleaning and light maintenance of rental equipment
