Senior Civil Engineer Aviation

CMT is actively is seeking to add a talented, experienced Senior Engineer to our Springfield, IL Aviation Business Unit. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to work as a team member or independently, and the desire to learn new skills and areas of expertise.Duties & Responsibilities:Planning, design, and project management of civil & transportation projects for airport clientsPerform and lead projects including client management, supervising and directing junior staff in support of the group manager and the team at largeTypical projects require preparation of bidding documents (plans & specifications) including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, pavement design, marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction schedulingGrowth and mentorship of younger staff within a dynamic aviation group consisting of planners, engineers, and construction professionalsServe as a client manager or the ability/desire to grow into a client-facing professional capable of delivering high quality products and services to our clientsIdentification and pursuit of business opportunitiesEngagement of clients, agencies and other professionals within the aviation industryPosition Requirements:A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required. A Master’s degree in advanced studies will be recognized in the evaluation process.Minimum six years of civil engineering experience (six years preferred) with demonstrated technical design & construction expertise in transportation, civil site development, and civil infrastructure projects including geometric design, grading, drainage, pavements, utilities, quantities, engineering reports, and specificationsStrong preference will be given to those with not only a technical understanding of delivering engineering projects, but those that possess a complete understanding of delivering a quality and comprehensive product, program, or solution for our aviation clients.Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, or the ability to gain that licensureDemonstrated skills and a working knowledge of design program for use in civil & site design projects including skills in Civil3D that can be used or taught/transferred to team membersInterest in experiencing a variety of assignments and working within a highly dynamic environment is importantStrong written and verbal communications skillsPeriodic out of town travel for project-related meetings, client management, and business development is anticipated.Acceptable driving record and valid driver’s licenseWho is CMT?CMT is recognized as a leader in delivering solutions across the entire infrastructure lifecycle, providing our clients with services across the spectrum of planning, design, construction, technology, and funding strategy.
