Counseling Intern, Graduate Level (Criminal Justice Services)

Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee. Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across Middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. Counseling And Therapy Services Interns will carry a small caseload and provide point‑of‑care and psychotherapy to clients of various ages. Therapeutic modalities utilized include TF‑CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, CBT, DBT, and play therapy. Interns will play a role in the client's treatment team with other departments throughout the agency. Additional learning and training opportunities will be available. MHC is seeking advanced social work or counseling interns to assist in providing clinical mental health services to clients of all ages. This internship will allow you to learn clinical therapeutic skills utilizing evidence‑based modalities, conduct client assessments, treatment and discharge planning, and documentation skills. Many of the clients have experienced grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and trauma, and because of various circumstances, they don’t have the means to pay for treatment. MHC works primarily with clients who are uninsured or have TennCare to provide the same treatment and care offered to others, helping them manage their symptoms and live productive lives. One unique and exciting aspect of this internship is that you will be allowed to carry a small caseload of clients on your own while working with your field supervisor. Requirements MHC can accommodate up to five interns in our Therapy department.
