Medical Technologist Team Lead

Community Memorial Hamilton, NY 13346, USA Pay or shift range: $39 USD to $49 USD The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons. Description Responsibilities and Duties: Perform laboratory technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures Operate and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers to ensure proper functionality Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents and control Perform and document maintenance and quality control procedures on analyzers Identify and replenish testing supplies as necessary Assist with phlebotomy and processing when needed Answer phone calls, maintain logs/records, train employees, use computerized databases, and maintain written and verbal communications. Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment Staff Guidance : Assign daily tasks, train new hires, and review the work of other technicians. Quality Control (QC): Check test results, track quality data, and make sure the lab follows safety rules. Equipment Care: Troubleshoot Instrumentation problems, Repair/Replace Minor Instrumentation difficulties, Perform Maintenance on all Instrumentation and call for Instrument Servicing when needed. Process Improvement: Help write standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assist with inventory and ordering supplies. Other Duties as assigned Job Requirements: Licensed as Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Technician from NYSDOH Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related science Ability to work independently and within a team environment Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs Education Preferred Bachelors or better in Biology or related field.
