Company Overview Weed Man is a leading lawn care franchise with a rich history of providing environmentally responsible fertilization, weed control, and pest management services. Since its inception, the company has grown to support over 725 territories across multiple regions, committed to honest communication and treating every lawn as if it were their own. Job Summary The Manager in Training is responsible for helping the Branch Manager in day-to-day operations. The position works closely with the Branch Manager in preparing and organizing the completion of daily work and the management of the Technical and Marketing Departments. The Manager in Training must have excellent management skills such as problem solving, communication, leadership, time management and team building. Every task contributes towards the overall goal of delivering a great service to our customers, by a well-trained staff of lawn technicians in a timely and cost-effective manner. Responsibilities and Duties Ensure a safe workplace for all employees through ongoing training and adherence to company policies. Ensure quality control compliance to meet service standards. Plan and conduct new hire and ongoing training for lawn service personnel in customer service skills, technical skills, safety policies and procedures. Effectively coach, train, and develop future leaders within the department. Work with administration and management to facilitate recruiting, interviewing, and selecting talent that fits our company culture. Daily, weekly, and monthly track all goals established in the business plan. Manage progressive discipline and accountability standards. Conduct performance reviews. Partner with peers as a resource to help in their goal achievements. Conduct daily and weekly production department meetings. Conduct pre/post trip vehicle inspections. Ensure all department employees maintain current licensing required by company policy and state/federal law. Help recruit and train door knockers for our marketing season. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent leadership skills in team building, selecting talent, training, mentoring, executing goals and developing future leaders. Practical knowledge of the lawn service industry and experience in developing and executing production plans. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of leadership and with front line staff. Ability to have difficult conversations. Great self‑awareness. Mechanical aptitude a plus, but not required. Business process analysis skills. Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Education and Experience Requirements 1‑2 or more years of related experience in lawn/horticulture/agronomy/lawn care services preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, licenses, and registrations as required by federal and state law; must possess or obtain them as required. Valid, permanent driver's license from state of residence and a clean driving record per company standards.
