Senior Specialist - US Controllers

Senior Specialist supporting US controllership, financial reporting, and internal controls for assigned legal entities within Merck's US Controller organization. The role supervises two individuals, coordinates accounting activities across multiple business divisions, and leverages automation and AI to enhance financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise accounting and controllership activities for assigned Human Health business areas
• Review intercompany activity, monitor balance sheet integrity, and oversee miscellaneous check receipt processes
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in compliance with US GAAP and statutory requirements
• Perform, review, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting and entity-level compliance
• Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and work review for two supervised team members

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2-4 years progressive accounting experience with coordination or supervisory exposure
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, statutory accounting, and legal entity management
• Ability to collaborate across functions and manage multiple priorities effectively
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• CPA or progress toward certification preferred
• Experience with SAP, APPIAN, Blackline, or AI-powered financial tools preferred
