Maintenance Controls Technician

The Controls Technician will work within the Maintenance Department and is responsible high level electrical troubleshooting. In this role you will serve as the technical "go to", troubleshooting and repairing controls related issues on complex assembly, CNC and Press equipment which will include PLC's, HMI's, motor controls, and servo's. Also work with the team on mechanical and building issues. Duties and Responsibilities Apply industrial maintenance skills and knowledge to design, install, program, operate, maintain, and repair plant electrical, electronic, and computerized control systems. Working knowledge of AC & DC control circuits, including single and three-phase motor control, PLC terminology/function and basic knowledge of measuring instruments and meters Read and interpret schematics and electrical specifications as required. Perform Electrical, Hydraulic, and Mechanical maintenance across the Plant in an accurate, timely and safe manner ensuring that machinery, systems, infrastructure, and equipment run optimally with minimal downtime. Perform repairs by following written work instructions, blueprints, and schematics. Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns and document repairs in our CMMS of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Technical proficiency in Automation software applications, Siemens, Beckhoff, Allan Bradley. Strong electrical (3-Phase, 480V, DC and 24V controls systems) Minimum of three years’ experience troubleshooting VFDs, PLCs, ladder logic, relay logic, motor controls. Good interpersonal oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated self-starter and effective planning and organization skills. Ability to participate as a member of a team, crossing department, divisional and company lines. Ability to use PC and job-related software/programs for programming, design and documentation/record keeping. Exceptional analytical skills. Strong attention to detail. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Constantly works towards improving knowledge and skills to be the best in the profession. Knowledge of Stamping Press a plus. Work Environment and Physical Demands The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is above 85 decimals, hearing protection is required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. 8-10 hours per day standing moving around facility including stairs. Requirements to meet OSHA/Safety regulations by wearing protective eyewear, earplugs and safety toed shoes are required.
