Talascend is currently seeking an Electrician for a contract opportunity with our client in Goleta, California .


Overview


The electrician will support mission-critical research and development laboratories, ensuring the proper functioning of electrical infrastructure in diverse environments including low-level bench labs and highly sensitive cleanroom spaces. This role involves hands-on technical work focused on electrical systems, maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting critical environment operations.


Responsibilities

• Conduct routine assessments of building systems' operations, testing and analyzing data to maintain lab-related equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems, including single- and three-phase systems up to 480V, lighting, panels, and motor controls.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings; plan and organize work accordingly.
• Operate under the supervision of the Lead Electrician to meet electrical needs of sensitive laboratory operations.
• Understand backup power systems such as large-scale UPS and changeover switchgear; manage emergency power distribution.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on lighting systems, emergency lighting, exit signage, electrical panels, and motor equipment.
• Run conduit, pull wire, and terminate circuits in compliance with NEC standards for new installations and renovations.
• Complete work orders accurately in the maintenance platform, documenting labor, materials, and repairs.
• Replace electrical components such as lamps, ballasts, drivers, and breakers, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Provide cross-trade support including light plumbing, HVAC assistance, and general facility repairs.
• Assist in emergency response efforts and ensure compliance with safety standards, including NEC and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid electrical license (Journeyman or equivalent)
• 3+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience
• Working knowledge of NEC requirements
• Experience troubleshooting electrical distribution and lighting systems with the ability to interpret schematics
• Experience working in a CMMS-driven maintenance environment with a focus on electrical safety procedures
• Multi-trade maintenance experience for cross-functional facility support
• Physical ability to climb ladders, operate scissor lifts up to 20 feet, and lift up to 50 lbs
