Title: Senior Field Engineer

Position Description

• Enterris Associates is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to support Active Transportation projects

Essential Job Duties

• Serves as a senior field-level representative supporting construction contract administration and field oversight for rail and transit-related civil work.
• Performs field engineering layout, measurements, and quantity verification, and reviews contractor work for conformance with plans and specifications.
• Oversees and inspects construction of trackway, station, right-of-way, utility, and pedestrian/bike path improvements within the project scope.
• Reviews and prepares responses to requests for information (RFIs) and contractor submittals, coordinating with the design team and Resident Engineer.
• Supports evaluation and documentation of change orders, time extension requests, and claims in accordance with contract requirements.
• Reviews contractor progress payment applications, quantities, and supporting documentation.
• Reviews contractor schedules, monitors progress, and helps identify delays and recovery actions.
• Ensures work complies with contract documents and jurisdictional standards, and applicable permits.
• Directs and supports assistant field engineers, inspectors, and document control staff as assigned.
• Coordinates with Owner, jurisdictional agencies, utility owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Monitors quality, safety, and labor compliance on the project, and follows up on nonconforming work.
• Supports project closeout, including punch lists, as-built documentation, and final acceptance.
• Prepares field reports and keeps the Resident Engineer/Owner informed of project status, risks, and issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications

• 10 or more years of field engineering or construction management experience on public works, rail, or transit projects.
• Experience with transportation standards and requirements preferred; familiarity with City of Los Angeles (Green, Blue, Brown, and Red Book) and/or Caltrans standards a plus.
• Able to work typical business hours or construction shifts in person.

Education/Training/Certificates

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California a plus, preferred.

Hardware/Software Knowledge

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation

• This role is salaried/exempt with a base annual salary range of $156,000 - $228,800 and commensurate with skill, education, experience, and work location.
• This role is bonus eligible after 6 months of employment.

• This job operates in a professional and field construction environment and uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, and field measurement tools.

Physical Demands

• Be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours per day.
• Demonstrate the ability to move freely for up to 8 hours per day, including on active construction sites.
