Senior Manager Global Trade Compliance [Remote]

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager Global Trade Compliance based in the United States.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced global trade compliance professional to build and manage critical compliance frameworks supporting international operations. In this role, you will oversee complex import, export, customs, and regulatory processes for highly regulated products while enabling efficient global supply chain operations. You will serve as a key subject matter expert, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant movement of materials, technologies, and products across international markets. Working in a fast-growing, science-driven environment, you will help shape scalable trade compliance processes while supporting global expansion initiatives. Accountabilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain global trade compliance policies, procedures, controls, and operational processes to support international business activities.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, import/export controls, sanctions requirements, and country-specific trade regulations across global markets.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on international supply chain activities, product distribution, and business operations.
• Lead internal trade compliance reviews, investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action initiatives.
• Provide strategic guidance to leadership on trade compliance risks, process improvements, and operational opportunities.
• Establish and maintain global Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification frameworks for products, raw materials, equipment, and related imports.
• Manage customs classification processes, country-of-origin analysis, customs declarations, and broker coordination to ensure accurate international transactions.
• Oversee Importer of Record (IOR) and Exporter of Record requirements while supporting complex cross-border shipments involving regulated materials.
• Develop and optimize duty management strategies, including duty drawback programs, free trade agreements, special customs programs, and tax reduction opportunities.
• Coordinate required import permits, export licenses, regulatory approvals, and country-specific authorizations with internal teams and external partners.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to support compliant business growth.
• Train employees and business partners on global trade compliance requirements and act as the primary escalation point for customs and international trade matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs Administration, Law, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in global trade compliance, customs operations, import/export management, or international logistics.
• Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, medical device, radiopharmaceutical, nuclear medicine, or other highly regulated industries preferred.
• Strong expertise in HTS classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin analysis, importer/exporter obligations, and global customs frameworks.
• Experience managing duty drawback programs, customs optimization initiatives, and trade compliance improvement projects.
• Knowledge of import permits, export licensing, regulatory approvals, and international requirements for controlled or regulated materials.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, export controls, sanctions programs, and international trade practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
• Preferred certifications include Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, or Certified Global Business Professional.
