The Senior Image Analysis Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced image analysis solutions that support high-content microscopy screening and translational research initiatives. This role combines software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and scientific computing expertise to transform large-scale imaging data into actionable biological insights. Working closely with scientists, researchers, and digital technology teams, the incumbent develops scalable analysis pipelines, advances computational imaging capabilities, and enables data-driven discovery across the organization’s research programs.About the role Design, develop, and maintain AI/ML-powered image analysis software supporting high-content microscopy and imaging platformsDevelop and optimize deep learning and image analysis algorithms for image segmentation, feature extraction, classification, and phenotypic analysisBuild and support scalable, high-throughput computational pipelines capable of processing large imaging datasetsEstablish and maintain software quality standards through validation, testing, documentation, version control, and reproducible development practicesCollaborate with scientists, researchers, and technology teams to understand research objectives and translate scientific requirements into technical solutionsSupport imaging data management, metadata standards, and long-term data accessibility and integrity in alignment with FAIR data principlesEvaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and methodologies in image analysis, machine learning, and computational imaging to drive continuous innovationMentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative technical environment that promotes knowledge sharing and best practicesAssist with scientific communication activities, including research publications, presentations, and internal knowledge sharingContribute to the advancement of the organization's digital research ecosystem and image analysis capabilitiesAbout you Minimum Qualifications4 years of scientific software development experience in an academic, research, or industry environment2 years of experience developing image analysis algorithms and computational workflowsDemonstrated expertise in Python software developmentExperience designing, training, and deploying deep learning models using PyTorchExperience working with large-scale datasets and scalable computational pipelinesExperience with version control and collaborative software development practicesStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with scientists and technical stakeholdersM.S. degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related fieldPreferred QualificationsPh.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related disciplineExperience with 3D imaging, organoid imaging, or microscopy-based image analysisFamiliarity with bioimage analysis platforms and tools such as OMERO, CellProfiler, Fiji/ImageJ, scikit-image, napari, or OME-ZarrExperience deploying software solutions within HPC, cloud, or containerized environmentsParticipation in open-source scientific computing or bioimage communitiesExposure to generative AI applications in scientific imagingWhat you’ll get Our team members fuel our strategy, innovation and growth, so we ensure the health and well-being of not just you, but your family, too!
