Audit & Assurance Manager / Senior Manager (HUD Focus)Step into a high-level assurance and advisory leadership role within our firm, serving as our primary subject matter expert for Housing & Urban Development (HUD) engagements while managing additional audit engagements across Employee Benefit Plans, Not-for-Profits, and private businesses.What you'll doLead and direct HUD compliance audits and engagements end-to-end, serving as the firm's primary technical expert on HUD guidelines, REAC submissions, and regulatory requirementsOversee audit, review, and compilation engagements across secondary sectors including Employee Benefit Plans (EBP), Not-for-Profits, and closely held private companies, ensuring full compliance with GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and SSARSPerform high-level technical reviews of workpapers, financial statements, and regulatory filings prepared by seniors and staff, delivering actionable coaching and feedbackServe as the primary relationship lead for assigned HUD and commercial accounts, keeping clients compliant with regulatory changes and identifying proactive advisory opportunitiesMonitor evolving HUD, governmental, and general accounting standards, communicating critical updates to clients and internal engagement teamsMentor, evaluate, and train staff auditors and senior associates to support their technical development and career progressionSupport firm growth through participation in proposals, HUD industry networking, and inter-departmental collaboration with tax and advisory teamsWhat you needBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related fieldActive CPA license5+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience with significant hands-on expertise leading HUD / affordable housing engagementsSolid working knowledge of HUD guidelines, Yellow Book (GAGAS), US GAAP, GAAS, and SSARSBackground managing concurrent client engagements, project budgets, and team workflows in a supervisory capacityProficiency with paperless audit software (e.g., CCH Engagement or CaseWare)Nice to haveExperience with Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audits, Uniform Guidance / Single Audits, or Not-for-Profit organizationsMaster's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or MBAPrior experience with REAC electronic submissions and regulatory controversy supportPay & benefitsBase salary: $130,000-$180,000 per year, commensurate with experience and titleHealth & wellness: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance optionsFinancial & retirement: Retirement savings plan optionsTime off: Paid time off (PTO) program and paid firm holidaysCareer development: Full funding and support for continuing professional education (CPE)Location & schedulePrimary offices: Troy, MI; Bingham Farms, MI; Ann Arbor, MI; or Remote optionsWork model: Hybrid or Remote availableEmployment type: Full-time, permanentAbout & how to applyWe deliver specialized audit, tax, and advisory solutions in a culture that values autonomy, technical excellence, and sustainable work-life balance.To apply, submit your resume through this posting for immediate consideration.
