Western National is seeking a Claims Training Lead to join our team! The individual in this role will have the opportunity to design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs across all property-and-casualty lines of business, ensuring claims employees are equipped with the technical knowledge, systems proficiency, and claims handling skills necessary to drive quality outcomes and maintain regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities and opportunities of this role include:
- Leading the design and execution of the annual Claims Trainee Program, including curriculum development, facilitation, and evaluation.
- Managing onboarding and structured training for new claims employees, ensuring effective early-stage development.
- Developing and delivering training programs (instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning) for claims staff across property-and-casualty lines of business.
- Creating and maintaining training materials and resources that support technical, systems, and professional skill development.
- Partnering with claims leadership to identify training needs and align programs with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluating training effectiveness using assessments and performance metrics and implementing continuous improvements.
- Providing coaching and ongoing learning support to reinforce knowledge and enhance employee performance.
- Maintaining training documentation and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Exercising independent judgment in the design and delivery of training programs and determining appropriate learning methods and tools.
- Collaborating with leadership to prioritize training initiatives that are aligned with organizational needs.
Must-have qualifications for a candidate include:
- Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, education, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three years of claims handling experience across multiple property-and-casualty lines of business.
- Strong instructional design and facilitation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and practical learning experiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
- Proficiency with learning management systems and training technologies.
- Working knowledge of claims systems, policy administration systems, and standard office software.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience developing e-learning or blended learning programs.
- Prior coaching or mentoring experience.
- Experience in training delivery, facilitation, or instructional design.
Compensation overview: The full hiring range for this role is $83,100 – $114,290, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
