Embedded Firmware Engineer

Embedded Firmware Engineer – Power Electronics / BMS CAEtech is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer for a full-time, W-2 contract position with employee benefits and potential for direct hire, supporting the development of embedded software and firmware for power electronics and Battery Management System (BMS) products. The engineer will support the design, development, implementation, testing and validation of embedded firmware for power conversion and battery management systems. The role requires strong C/C++ embedded development experience, hands‑on experience with microcontrollers and digital signal processors, and familiarity with real‑time operating systems. Key Responsibilities Design and develop embedded software using C and C++. Develop firmware using STM32 microcontrollers and digital signal processors such as the TI C2000. Work within real‑time operating system environments, including FreeRTOS and Zephyr RTOS. Perform firmware testing, debugging and troubleshooting using appropriate development and debugging tools. Use oscilloscopes, signal analyzers and related laboratory equipment to support development and validation. Read and understand high‑level electrical schematics to support hardware/software integration and troubleshooting. Support model‑based design methodologies, including simulation, modeling and automatic code generation, as part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems engineers and other cross‑functional teams to develop integrated power electronics and BMS solutions. Create technical documentation including specifications, design documents, test plans and Design Verification Test (DVT) reports. Skills Required Ability to read and understand high‑level electrical schematics. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Hands‑on experience using oscilloscopes, signal analyzers and related test equipment. Experience with embedded firmware testing, debugging and troubleshooting. Skills Preferred Hands‑on experience with STM32 microcontrollers. Education Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field. Education Preferred Master degree in a related field Experience Required Minimum 4 years of industry experience in embedded firmware/software development.Minimum 4 years of experience with C/C++ embedded development, RTOS environments, and microcontrollers. Strong expertise in embedded C and C++ programming. Experience Preferred Experience with RTOS development environments and architecture, including FreeRTOS and Zephyr RTOS. Experience with digital signal processors such as TI C2000.
