Principal Risk Specialist As a Principal Risk Associate at Capital One you’ll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks. Principal Risk Associates are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They interact across lines of business and create innovative solutions to identify and mitigate risk to the Company. Regulatory Change Specialists within the HR Risk Office collaborate across stakeholders to document compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to International Regulatory impacts for Human Resources, and documents implementation needed to ensure compliance. They also focus on process improvement, efficiency, and customer focus. Your Responsibilities Partner with HR, Global Policy Affairs Group (GPAG), Legal and Compliance stakeholders to manage the Regulatory Change process and foster strong stakeholder relationships Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders to enable collaboration across the enterprise Identify and track implementation plans to mitigate risk to Capital One Support process improvement initiatives, driving efficiency and clarity for internal customers Manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, independently and with team collaboration Support other risk efforts, including Audit/Exams support, reporting, and other risk management tasks as needed You Will Be Successful When Innovative, adaptive, and inclusive Exceptional verbal and written communicator Creative, outside‑box thinker with a customer‑backed problem‑solving approach to process improvement and efficiency Able to assist on multiple work streams and tasks simultaneously Collaborative team player with the ability to navigate organizations Able to blend strategic and tactical thinking with creative and analytical reasoning Able to proactively identify themes and apply learnings in highly ambiguous contexts Basic Qualifications At least 1 year of experience in process management, risk management, product management, or operations At least 1 year of experience in compliance, legal, or risk management Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience in risk management, financial services, technology, or product management 3+ years of experience in Human Resources Professional certifications such as Business Process Management, Lean or Green Belt, SHRM, CERP, CRCM, etc. At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. Salaries for this role (full time) vary by location: McLean, VA: $120,800 – $137,900 (Principal Risk Specialist) Richmond, VA: $109,900 – $125,400 (Principal Risk Specialist) This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long term incentives (LTI).
