Maintenance Technician – 3rd Shift Location: Urbana, OH As the Maintenance Technician – 3rd Shift, You Will... Be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role plays a key part in preventive maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring equipment reliability throughout the facility. Complete corrective maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. Set up and operate welders, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other metalworking equipment. Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts. Support and participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programs. Maintain professional and courteous conduct while carrying a company phone during work hours. Maintain and promote 5S workplace organization standards throughout the facility. Support the Rittal Production System through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist in identifying equipment issues and recommending corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required. Experience Minimum one (1) year of experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems preferred. Experience operating maintenance and fabrication equipment preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. Skills & Competencies Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery and equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and other technical documents. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills. Ability to write detailed repair reports and communicate maintenance activities effectively. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn and utilize maintenance management software for data entry, work orders, and parts research. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift. Occasionally lift up to 80 pounds to waist level. Frequently lift 25 to 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above shoulder level. Ability to climb ladders and work at elevations up to 90 feet. Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, dust, and elevated noise levels. May be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Regular exposure to cleaning solvents, oils, lubricants, and other industrial substances. Must be available to work assigned shifts and support operational needs as required.
