Shift Notes
Consists of 3 shifts of 12 hours each. Blocked schedule.
Unit Notes
- 7 beds with 1 trauma room; Tele/ED available.
- Psych exclusion rooms available.
- Patient volume varies, with approximately 4,000 patients annually.
- Additional preferred certifications: ENPC, TNCC.
- Staffing includes one nurse in the ER; a charge nurse from the med-surg unit may assist when needed.
- No dedicated charge nurse.
- Daytime shift includes ER tech; no tech available during night shifts.
- Security response is quick; panic buttons are available for safety.
- Weekends: Every third weekend, with potential for more frequent scheduling as needed.
- Holidays are rotated with permanent staff.
- Any professional color scrubs are acceptable.
- Mindray patient monitors; nurses are required to interpret EKGs.
- Ventilators: Newport HT70.
- Emergency Room physicians available 24/7; hospitalists are on call at night.
- Nurses are authorized to perform lab draws if the lab is unavailable.
- No dedicated intravenous (IV) team; strong IV skills are preferred.
- Respiratory treatments are managed by nursing staff; no dedicated respiratory therapist on-site.
- Pharmacist available until 3 PM; telepharmacy services are available after hours.
- Shift time: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
- Potential for floating within the facility as needed.
- Initial shift with a preceptor for orientation.
- Diverse diagnoses common in the ER setting.
Work Environment
This is a collaborative and team-oriented environment. Strong teamwork and flexibility are essential to meet the dynamic needs of the unit. Candidates should be willing to adjust schedules and work collaboratively with their peers.
