We are currently seeking a talented Interior Designer specializing in custom drapery design, fabric sourcing, and window treatments, to join our growing team. The design position is full time, in Glenview, IL, Monday thru Friday.

You will lead all soft furnishing projects from the initial client consultation to final installation. You will combine your technical knowledge of textiles, hardware, and measuring with creative spatial vision to design stunning, functional window solutions that elevate our clients' homes.

Willow Drapery & Upholstery is a woman-owned business, operating for 20 years, with 16 international awards for design and workmanship. Our location features a beautiful showroom along with an on-site warehouse and workroom.

Key responsibilities:

Client Consultations: Meet with residential clients in our showroom and in their homes to assess aesthetic preferences, privacy/lighting needs, and functional goals.

Design & Proposals: Create comprehensive design concepts, mood boards, sketches and accurate cost estimate proposals.

Precise Measuring: Take precise, on site measurements for windows and motorized or manual hardware tracks.

Fabric and Hardware Sourcing: Select and present fabric swatches, trims, linings, and drapery hardware from our vendor network.

Workroom Coordination: Write detailed fabrication and purchase orders, partnering with local craftspeople and subcontractors to ensure flawless production.

Installation Oversight: Supervise professional installers on-site to ensure precise hanging and drapery styling.

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum 2-5 years of residential interior design experience, with a heavy emphasis on custom drapery and soft treatments.

Textile Experience: Deep knowledge of fabric properties, drapery styles, repeats, drops, and fullness ratios.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in exact field measurements and knowledge of motorized shading systems (e.g. Lutron, Somfy, Hunter Douglas).

Software: Proficiency with QuickBooks, & design software.

Sketch: The ability to make simple sketches is helpful.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal , verbal, and visual presentation skills to build rapport with high end residential clients.

Sales Skills: A natural ability to be a strong sales person with closing skills.

The job requires the ability to lift/carry sample books/bags into the home and use of your vehicle (mileage is reimbursed). Many clients have stairs, so you must have the ability to walk upstairs or multi story levels.
