School Psychologist
We are seeking a qualified and experienced School Psychologist to join the Taconic Hills Team. The optimal School Psychologist candidate provides comprehensive psychological services to support the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs of students in grades K–12. The School Psychologist conducts psychological evaluations and assessments, participates in student support and special education meetings, develops and monitors behavioral interventions, provides counseling and crisis intervention, and collaborates with students, families, staff, administrators, and outside agencies to support student success. The School Psychologist also provides consultation and assistance to teachers and staff regarding student needs, referrals, interventions, and the special education process.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological evaluations and assessments, including new referrals to CSE, declassification evaluations, psychoeducational evaluations, ADHD evaluations, mental health assessments, triennial evaluations, social histories, and classroom observations.
- Prepare written reports and communicate evaluation results and recommendations to parents, teachers, staff, and other appropriate team members.
- Participate in CST, CSE, Section 504, and building-level team meetings.
- Lead the preparation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavioral Intervention Plans and Behavior Response Plans. Assist teachers with data collection, plan development, implementation, and progress monitoring, as well as provide consultation regarding whole-class behavioral interventions.
- Prepare draft IEPs in ClearTrack in consultation with special education teachers and assist the school counselor with draft 504 plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and assist with the safe removal or restraint of students whose behavior presents a danger to themselves or others, as appropriate.
- Provide individual counseling, in-class psychological consultation, and direct psychological services, including activities such as Circle of Friends and guided play. Maintain appropriate session documentation and notes.
- Respond to student mental health and behavioral crises, including suicidal comments or gestures, violent writing or drawings, sexualized behaviors, and other situations identified as a priority by building administration. Provide same-day support when requested.
- Serve as a liaison with outside agencies, therapists, private practitioners, DSS, probation, and other community providers. Participate in CPS interviews and School-Based Prevention Program meetings as appropriate.
- Assist teachers with remedial teacher screening, including scoring and interpretation of assessment results, and provide support in completing CST and CSE referral documentation.
- Assist with the CSE referral process by supporting teachers in completing referral forms, tracking documentation, obtaining required signatures, coordinating paperwork, and ensuring materials are submitted to the CSE office.
- Visit local preschools during the spring to observe incoming kindergarten students who may require CSE services in collaboration with the teaching team.
- Respond to requests from teachers, parents, administrators, and other staff for information, consultation, and assistance regarding student academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and psychological needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum master's degree or PSYD/PHD in School Psychology
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Other Information
Hours: 7.25 hours per day, 10 months per year
Master's Degree Stipend: $900 per year
Stipend per Grad Credit: $50 per credit, per year
