Ultrasound Tech - Registered - PRN - Hospital - Tulsa

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education - Incumbent must have successfully completed a post-high school sonography program.

Experience - A minimum one year (1) of relevant work experience preferred.


Licenses & Certification - Current ARRT, RDMS, and/or RVT registered or registry eligible is preferred and must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Knowledge & Skills -

1. Knowledge of the Ultrasound Physics
2. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
3. Knowledge of methods, techniques, and quality control required for processing sonographic images with optimum results.
4. Skills in obtaining adequate diagnostic sonographic views on patients for which normal techniques and methods are not possible, requiring techniques which deviate from the normal.
5. Ability to perform sonographic examinations in a variety of conditions, such as emergency trauma and also have the ability to manage patient care in trauma situations.
6. Knowledge of common business, medical electronic health record and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) software applications.
7. Ability to communicate courteously and effectively to patients, other staff, physicians and the general public.
8. Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the position is to aid the Radiologist in performing specific sonographic examinations and also perform certain routine sonographic examinations, as well assist fellow technologists, as described in the Radiology Department's Policies and Procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in hospital and clinic environments. There is common exposure to infectious communicable disease, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required and requested. Special attire may be required as protection against infection and radiation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work requires long periods of standing and walking. Working with patients requires recurring bending, stooping, stretching and positioning patients. Ability to lift 50 pounds is required to perform positional duties. Incumbent will also have to cope with frequent changes in a stressful environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

1. Responsible for staying up to date in policy and protocol amendments, positioning techniques and quality control of ultrasound equipment.
2. Responsible for the proper identification of patients, including correct hospital number and proper identification of all ultrasound images.
3. Review each ultrasound request to determine necessary images needed for the completion of the exam.
4. Responsible for the cleanliness of work area and equipment assigned.
5. Performs required duties in technologist work area, file room and office as needed.
6. Responsible for reviewing current technical literature and evaluating new procedures and techniques for the purpose of recommending them to the Director of Radiology.
7. Provide technical support to staff members and physicians and assists with troubleshooting and basic inquiries involved in the daily operation of computers and ultrasound equipment.
8. Responsible for maintaining professional licensures, certifications/registrations and required continuing education as mandated by ARRT, ARDMS and/or RVT credentialing requirements.
9. Regular attendance is required.
10. Performs other duties as required.
