Registered Nurse (RN) - Mother Baby

Overview

Join a leading healthcare organization committed to providing high-quality care and making a positive impact in the community. This role is essential in delivering excellent nursing care within the Mother Baby Unit, ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and their newborns.

Unit Information

  • Location: Asheville, NC
  • Unit Type: Mother Baby Unit
  • Number of Beds: 34 private couplet rooms
  • Staffing: 78 staff members
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 couplets
  • Typical Equipment: Alaris pumps, Bilirubin blankets/lights
  • Electronic Medical Record System: Cerner
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during the postpartum period.
  • Monitor and assess patients, managing any complications that may arise.
  • Perform common procedures, including circumcisions.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Assist in the education and support of new mothers in infant care practices.
Qualifications
  • Required Experience: 2 years of nursing experience in a Mother Baby Unit.
  • Must Have:

    • Mother Baby experience.
    • BLS and NRP certifications.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Travel nursing experience.
    • Experience caring for patients on Magnesium Sulfate post-delivery.
    • STABLE certification.
Work Environment

The Mother Baby Unit operates with dedicated nursing staff, ensuring a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Nurses in this unit are expected to be team players who enjoy teaching and supporting fellow staff members.

  • Dress Code: Navy Blue/White scrubs.
  • Weekends: Weekend shifts are required.
