MEMBERSHIP SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Pay Transparency: $18 - $20/hour + sales commissions + monthly bonus opportunities

Role and Responsibilities

The Membership Sales Representative is responsible for developing leads for prospective members, providing information to prospective members, and enrolling new members. This person also assists management in meeting membership and financial objectives. This person is responsive to both current and prospective members maintaining Active's highest standards of customer service.

Specific Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Actively develop leads for prospective members
• Respond to telephone and e-mail membership inquiries, booking and maintaining appointments for prospective members to tour the club
• Provide prospective members with an enthusiastic and informative tour
• Empower and educate prospective members on the benefits of health and wellness
• Present approved membership options and prices to prospective members
• Complete all membership paperwork for new members, including application and orientation requirements
• Track and report daily membership sales
• Distribute passes, fliers, and other materials to create traffic flow of prospective members
• Develop relationships and encourage member referrals
• Attend management meetings, training, and retreats
• Generate leads to the Corporate Sales Department to help open accounts, working with the Corporate Sales Director and Regional Accounts Manager to develop new corporate accounts
• Provide ongoing maintenance for assigned existing corporate accounts including regular contact with Corporate Ambassadors, distribution of fliers and passes
• Maintain and submit a commission log each pay period, including all necessary backup paperwork such as copies of membership applications
• Make follow-up calls to all prospective members who failed to show up for their appointments and all guests who have not yet enrolled
• Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
• Work as a TEAM with all other departments
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Other Functions

• Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
• Promote club services and activities
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment
• Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
• Attend Active Wellness site meetings and training
• Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting

Requirements:

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Previous health club personal training experience is a plus.
• AA degree or equivalent education and experience
• 2 years of sales experience
• Communication skills, basic computer skills, phone etiquette, customer service orientated, commitment to fitness industry/environment
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
• AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
• Proof of citizenship or legal status

Physical and Working Conditions

• Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
• Ability to stand for several hours in the same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
• Fitness club environment
• Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
