Overview Established educational organization is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and day-to-day finance functions within a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This is a highly visible leadership role partnering closely with executive leadership while supporting operational and strategic financial initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting leadership experience, financial reporting expertise, and the ability to thrive in a hands-on environment with broad operational exposure. Job Details Role: Controller | Reporting, Compliance & Operational Leadership | Stable Organization + Strong Work/Life Balance Salary: $105,000 - $125,000 per year Why join us Stable and mission-driven organization High visibility role with leadership exposure Broad operational accounting oversight Strong work/life balance and collaborative culture Opportunity to make a direct impact within the organization Long-term stability and growth potential Responsibilities Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements Support budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, and cash management activities Assist with grant, restricted fund, and institutional accounting activities Partner with executive leadership on operational reporting and financial analysis Maintain accurate financial records and help improve accounting processes and efficiencies Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering accountability and collaboration Support external audit, tax, and compliance reporting requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Prior higher education, nonprofit, governmental, or fund accounting experience preferred Experience overseeing audits, budgeting, and operational accounting functions Strong Excel and ERP/accounting systems experience CPA preferred but not required Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Equal Opportunity Jobot is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
