Description:

The Surgery Scheduler coordinates and manages all aspects of the surgical scheduling process. This role is responsible for scheduling procedures, verifying insurance authorization requirements, identifying and collecting applicable deductibles and coinsurance amounts, and ensuring that all necessary clinical and insurance coding information is accurately obtained for the surgical schedule. The Surgery Scheduler receives procedure scheduling requests from physicians and arranges surgeries in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and organizational standards.

1. Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.

2.Coordinates surgery scheduling processes and routes all paperwork to meet physician and facility requirements efficiently and in a timely manner.

3.Ensures efficient and professional telephone and email communication at all times.

4.Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families.

5.Establish and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, staff, management, equipment companies and surgical facilities.

6.Schedules surgeries based on physician volume while maintaining appropriate standard turn-around times.

7.Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results based on predetermined goals.

8.Manages patient information within HIPAA guidelines.

9.Gathers necessary documentation from patients and ensures all required signatures are in place and all documentation is organized and sent to the surgical facilities in a timely manner.

10.Manges billing aspects with patients such as collecting full payments as appropriate.

11.Assures appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is documented and all surgeries are approved as required by insurance.
