Fire Training Officer 2 – Intermittent – Multiple Positions (260004PI) Agency: Ohio Department of Commerce – Division of the State Fire Marshal. Location: State Fire Marshal, 8895 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068-0000. Compensation: $28.76 per hour. Schedule: Part‑time. Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible). Union: OCSEA. Responsibilities Instruct and evaluate students in the Ohio Fire Academy’s various training programs. Ensure student safety in classroom and on training grounds. Coach and counsel students, conduct skill testing. Review, analyze, and evaluate programs, methods, materials, and equipment to ensure compliance with current NFPA standards, making recommendations to improve lesson plans and setting up resident programs. Provide a total of 380 hours of instruction per year across programs such as Fire, EMS, Technical Rescue, Leadership Development, Instructor, Inspector, Regional, and Direct Training Delivery. Teach courses within the specified instructional period February 1 – November 30 each year, meeting the 1000‑hour fiscal year cap for intermittent positions. Qualifications Certified as a Public Safety Instructor in firefighting by the Department of Public Safety pursuant to Section 4765.55 of the Revised Code. Valid driver’s license.
