Job Title and Details Job Title: Med Surg Location: Green Bay, WI Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: 7:00pm-7:30am 12‑hour shifts (Night Shift: 12 hours/day, 3 days/week) About Facility Green Bay, WI Level II Trauma Center Level III NICU Level III Maternity Primary Stroke Center Beds: 167 Unit Information Beds: 16 Minimum Years of Experience required: 1-year MedSurg experience Will accept first‑time traveler: Yes Patient Types / Common Diagnoses CHF, COPD, respiratory issues/failure, pneumonia, cellulitis, infections, DVT, acute kidney disease, chronic kidney disease (may go off unit for hemodialysis), wounds, altered mental status, suicide precautions, cardiac rhythm interpretation (check off on strips) Gen surgery – gallbladders, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, TURPs Patient Ratios 1:4 days, 1:5‑6 nights Required Licenses and Certifications BLS Skills Required General MedSurg skills (foley insertion/care, peripheral IV placement/maintenance, bladder scans, NG tube placement/maintenance), chest tubes, trachs, wound care/dressing changes, central line/PICC/midline management, accessing ports EPIC experience Drips: heparin, insulin (ok if no insulin experience) Support within the Department CNA – 1:6 days, 1:8 nights Charge RN – will take patient assignment Phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws Hospitalist 24/7 Respiratory 24/7 SWAT RN (ICU trained) IV/Vascular Access Team during the day Centralized Tele monitoring with Tele Techs Technology and Equipment EMR: EPIC – required IV Pump: Alaris Medication dispensing: Pyxis Monitors: Floating Could float within scope of practice at hospital. Most common float areas will be Obs and MedSurg 1. Travelers float first. Orientation NEO 1 shift on the unit to learn the flow. Can spend a few hours orienting to Obs and MedSurg 1 as well. Scheduling Weekend rotation: Every 3rd weekend. On call: No. Holiday expectations: 1 summer, 1 winter. Approval of RTO: OK to approve up to 7 days. Shift times: 0700‑1930, 1900‑0730. Schedule cycle: Supervisor will make schedule in 6‑week increments, receive 2‑weeks prior to schedule beginning. Block scheduling may be accommodated if requested, but no guarantees.
