Prior Authorization Specialist

Schedule Mon - Fri, 8-5 Position Overview TEKsystems is hiring a Prior Authorization Specialist for a leading cardiology practice in Wallingford, CT, part of HHC. The role involves obtaining timely insurance approvals for cardiology procedures, imaging, and medications to support patient care and minimize delays. Key Responsibilities Submit and track prior authorization requests for procedures, diagnostics, and medications Communicate with insurance companies, providers, and patients regarding authorization status Ensure accurate and complete documentation in the EMR Follow up on pending requests and resolve denials or additional information requests Maintain knowledge of payer guidelines and cardiology‑specific requirements Qualifications 1–3 years of medical office or prior authorization experience (cardiology preferred) Strong knowledge of insurance plans, CPT/ICD‑10 coding basics, and EMR systems Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8am start time skills Medical billing, claim, revenue cycle, collection, healthcare, charge entry, medical claims processing, ICD‑10, prior authorization, medical insurance, insurance verification, medical terminology, benefit verification, health insurance, patient access, patient service, pre‑authorization, Epic, invoicing, data entry, insurance, payment posting Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00–$23.00/hr.
