Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-Surg/Telemetry Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Active nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Patient monitoring on the unit - Blood product administration - Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management - Starting and maintaining IVs - Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips - Isolation precautions - Wound care and management Description: This role involves providing nursing care for patients with various medical conditions. The unit accommodates first-time travelers with a minimum of two years of experience. Patient diagnoses include chest pain, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, arrhythmias, diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation, pneumonia, hypertension, myocardial infarction, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, congestive heart failure, gastrointestinal bleed, and syncope. There is potential for med-surg overflow, such as gastrointestinal bleed, sepsis, cerebrovascular accident, and COVID-19 positive cases. Special procedures include pre/post cardiac catheterization lab, pacemaker/AICD insertion, ablations, and vascular surgeries. You will be required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin. Additional expected responsibilities may include sheath pulling at bedside and providing care for patients undergoing pre/post cardiac procedures. This position requires flexibility as staff may be pulled to other inpatient units and specific scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed. Interdisciplinary support is available from physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and transportation. The daily patient load is estimated at 24 patients with a ratio of 6 patients per nurse. Candidates must demonstrate skill in accessing and managing ports, non-invasive airway management, and performing wound care using advanced techniques. All applicants must be comfortable with emergency assignments as determined by unit management. Documentation may be required and should be completed accurately. In addition, previous charge experience is preferred.
