Physical Therapist (PT), Per Diem Day Shift, Acute Care Therapy

Employment Type: Per Diem Shady Grove Medical Center Physical Therapist – Acute Care As a Physical Therapist, you will: Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish a diagnosis, prognosis and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation settings. Provide or direct and supervise therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and plan of care. Involve the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation and assessment of the plan of care. Re‑examine the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or changes in status and modify the plan accordingly or discontinue services when warranted. Plan for discharge of the patient/client with appropriate disciplines, ensuring achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes. Provide appropriate follow‑up or referral. Discontinue intervention when benefit is no longer evident, in coordination with the referring provider/team when indicated. Communicate, coordinate and document all aspects of patient/client management—including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, status changes, re‑examination and discharge—with members of the care team as indicated. Supervise and direct assigned rehab aides, office assistants and volunteers. Manage the schedule to accommodate variations in census and patient load, informing management of any issues with caseload management. Attend team meetings and effectively communicate patient status, using the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case. Be responsible for individual professional development activities. Qualifications Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program. One year of site‑specific experience preferred. Active Maryland license. Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Work Schedule Hours: 8 hrs/week. Shift type: Day. Weekend requirements: Minimum of 2 weekend days per month. Holiday requirements: Follow department holiday requirements. Pay Rate Per Diem: $60 /hr.
