Cost Accounting Manager

SHR Talent is partnering with a fast-growing, private equity-backed industrial services and construction materials organization in Middle Tennessee in its search for a Cost Accounting Manager. The Cost Accounting Manager is a newly created role designed to support a rapidly expanding division of the business and serve as a key bridge between field operations and finance. The Cost Accounting Manager will have the ability to help shape reporting cadence, enhance job costing accuracy, and create scalable operational accounting procedures. The Cost Accounting Manager role is ideal for someone with strong construction, manufacturing, heavy civil, or project-based accounting experience who enjoys working closely with operations leaders and wants upward mobility inside a growing organization. Responsibilities Lead job costing and project cost tracking across active operations Analyze margins, labor, materials, equipment usage, and project profitability Improve reporting cadence from weekly toward daily operational visibility Own Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and Percentage of Completion (POC) reporting Partner with field leaders to ensure accurate production and cost inputs Reconcile operational data to financial statements and monthly close Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), controls, and reporting processes Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) development Support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) optimization and data integrity initiatives Provide actionable insights to operations and executive leadership teams Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field 5+ years of accounting, cost accounting, or project accounting experience Background in construction, asphalt, paving, aggregates, manufacturing, or similar industries, preferred Experience with Work in Progress (WIP) and Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, strongly preferred Exposure to Department of Transportation (DOT) and infrastructure projects, a plus Strong Excel and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively with both field personnel and executive leadership Self-starter mentality with desire to build and improve processes #J-18808-Ljbffr SHR Talent
