STAFF ACCOUNTANT

FirstCall Mechanical is a commercial and industrial HVAC, building controls, electrical, and plumbing services company. We serve commercial and industrial customers, including distribution centers, cold storage facilities, food manufacturing facilities, universities, and other commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of customer service. Job Responsibilities Manage general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes which includes, but is not limited to, preparing all journal entries, reconciling all balance sheet accounts and financial statement preparation and analysis Maintain records retention, protection and disposal of records Maintain company accounting procedures and processes and ensure compliance Develop procedures to improve efficiency Monitor cash flow for operations Assist with audits Keep managers informed Accountabilities Timely financial reporting Accuracy in journal entries and reporting

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position will report to the Corporate Controller and will work closely with the corporate finance team based in Austin TX. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred, but not required 3-5 years of Construction Accounting Experience Deep understanding of financial close process including the preparation journal entries, reconciliation schedules and financial statement package Experience in financial operations including A/R, A/P, AIA Billing, Job Costing, General ledger, treasury, payroll and state and local tax compliance Great written and verbal communication skills Advanced excel skills and ability to quickly learn and adopt new software tools Experience with Quickbooks, SAGE Intacct or other similar ERP system Background in a skilled trades environment: construction, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing

Strong written communication skills are essential for drafting professional emails, reports, and internal documents. The role requires the ability to clearly present information in one-on‑one and small group settings with employees, customers, and vendors. Mathematical Skills Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Comfortable working with percentages, ratios, and basic financial calculations. Familiarity with spreadsheets and data entry is necessary for tracking expenses, reports, and various administrative tasks. Reasoning Ability Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to follow written, verbal, or visual instructions accurately. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities. Attention to detail and sound judgment are critical, particularly when handling confidential information. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands for typing and other office-related tasks, and communicate clearly. The employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, or lift office materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision for computer work and the ability to adjust focus as needed.
