Information Governance Analyst

If you aspire to be the best, and work with the best, this is where you belong. About the Role The Information Governance Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Information Governance team. This role will coordinate primary functions including file management (physical and electronic), file intake, file releases, destruction requests, data access requests, case room management, and records retention. The analyst will communicate regularly with attorneys and paralegals to ascertain project status, develop methods for determining when files are inactive, and handle file movement and processing issues. The position is located in Houston and requires in‑office presence Monday through Friday for the first six months. After that, a flexible hybrid schedule is available. Responsibilities Assist with physical file management: locating and responding to requests, ensuring the records management system is up to date, and coordinating box archiving and off‑site storage procedures. Provide space coordination and organize large document collections in central filing areas, case rooms, file cabinets, and off‑site facilities. Develop, maintain, and coordinate inventory systems to track persons responsible for files, room usage, file status, location, and other factors related to space management. Assist with basic and complex reviews and administrative tasks related to file releases, data access requests, and destructions. Review and prepare files for release to departing attorneys and other firms, using Windows volumes, iManage, Outlook, and litigation support databases, while implementing firm procedures for review and disposition. Protect and maintain any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information retained by Latham & Watkins. Qualifications Extensive knowledge of information governance, data security and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of the physical and electronic resources of the department and firm, and the ability to articulate the role of effective space management in office administration. Well‑developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with attorneys, management, support staff, clients, and outside contacts. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; a minimum of four (4) years of relevant information governance or records experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant information governance or records experience, preferably in a law firm Information Governance or Records Department. Experience in other law firm positions with significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related experience.
