SAP Master Data Governance Consultant

Data Governance Consultant (SAP) Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid) Duration: 12 Month Contract Overview The Senior SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) Consultant provides advanced functional consulting support for SAP MDG solutions, with deep expertise in master data domains, governance processes, and enterprise data standards. This role operates as a senior delivery consultant who can independently drive complex requirements, guide solution design discussions, and provide informed input into data architecture and governance strategies. The consultant partners closely with business stakeholders, data owners, SAP technical teams, and solution architects to deliver scalable, well-governed master data solutions aligned with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead functional analysis, design, and configuration for SAP MDG processes including governance workflows, validations, approvals, and data quality controls across domains (e.g., business partner, material, finance). Translate business and data governance requirements into high-quality functional designs, data models, and solution recommendations. Provide expert input into solution and integration design discussions across SAP modules (SD, MM, FI/CO) and external systems. Support implementations, rollouts, and enhancements across SAP MDG on ECC and/or S/4HANA environments. Define and support data governance frameworks including policies, standards, and stewardship models. Drive functional testing strategy, support UAT, and assist with data migration, cleansing, and cutover activities. Act as a senior escalation point for complex data and governance-related issues. Review designs and configurations produced by other consultants; provide guidance and best‑practice recommendations. Collaborate with architects and technical teams on integrations, data replication (DRF), and reporting/analytics needs. Support documentation, knowledge transfer, and continuous data quality improvement initiatives. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or equivalent experience. 7–10+ years of SAP experience with strong specialization in SAP MDG or master data management. Proven experience delivering SAP MDG or enterprise data governance solutions in large or complex environments. Hands‑on experience with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA MDG. Experience working alongside solution architects and influencing data and governance design decisions.
