IT Business Analyst

Allyn International is in search of a IT Business Analyst to grow within our IT Department in either our Fort Myers, FL or Greenville, SC office. Allyn is a privately held professional services firm established in 1992. We provide high-quality, customer-centric services and solutions for the global marketplace. Our core products include transportation management, logistics sourcing, freight forwarding, supply chain consulting, tax management, and trade compliance operational support and consulting.


What does an IT Business Analyst do?

The IT Business Analyst will assist the business to implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. Responsible for business analysis activities, in accordance with company's systems development methodology and supporting projects within a specific area. Manage design, research, testing and implementation of projects

Position Details:

Location: Fort Myers, FL or Greenville, SC

Position/Classification: Full-Time; Salaried Exempt, Professional Level


Travel: 20-30%, Capable of domestic and international travel; proper travel documentation required

Hours of Work: Regular business hours, some weekend /afterhours /weekend support may be required

Physical Demands : Sitting, typing, some travel involved

Required Experience and Education:

Bachelor's or equivalent college degree required

Program and project management experience required

2 years' experience in IT related discipline

Responsibilities :

• Build the foundation for the project effort by capturing the business context - problem, current state, desired future state, objectives, business needs and impacted user groups.
• Develop requirements (business, user, process and software requirements - functional and non-functional) and establish traceability to the business vision
• Manage the requirements through the project lifecycle by establishing and maintaining agreements between the customer and the project team
• Ensure the requirements are specified in a manner suitable for the intended audience and are understandable, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested
• Ability to navigate the project team, IT personnel and business sponsors through a level of ambiguity including business process change; building organization and structure to requirements to drive out and define detailed requirements in an efficient manner
• Work with the project manager and the business customer(s) to define requirements stakeholders, requirements conflict resolution procedures and the requirements team structure
• Understands multiple project management methodologies/software development approaches and defines the appropriate deliverables through project phases (i.e. planning, analysis, specification and validation
• Responsible for ensuring change control and change management procedures are followed within the project team as they relate to requirements
• Determine, understand and document the business case and project scope
• Ensure that quality business analysis standards are met through the effective implementation or use of approved processes, best practices, methodologies and deliverable
• Assess change requests related to requirements to assess overall impact
• Collecting, documenting, and confirming business requirements and functional specifications.
• Works in close collaboration with business partners and developers to ensure consistent understanding of business processes and requirements.
• Oversee test plans and associated test case scenarios delivered by Q&A analyst.
• Assists with tasks and deliverables related to System Development Life Cycle phases for package and custom solutions
• Attends and participates in user and project meetings and teams to expand knowledge, as a participant or as a lead; facilitates project status meetings; tracks project status.
• Investigate and document project issues and detailed requirements
• Frequently interacts with IT staff including business area management, portfolio managers, vendors, consultants and other contractors.
• Has the role of a team leader, having the QA personnel reporting to the business analyst
