Clinical partners include Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Newark's University Hospital. Position Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Records and Statistical Clerk in the Department of Pediatrics within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). The primary purpose of the position is to work under the direction of the head clerk and in accordance with WIC policies and procedures, providing certification and clerical client services to WIC enrolled women who are pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding, and to infants and children up to age five (5). The Clerk issues checks, maintains check stock integrity, schedules clinic appointments, provides front‑desk support for client check‑in, conducts hemoglobin testing, takes height and weight measurements, and participates in WIC‑mandated initiatives such as voter registration and immunization data collection. All duties are performed with Service Excellence. Responsibilities Interview patients or representatives to obtain necessary personal and financial data to determine WIC eligibility. Perform client intake and certification services, including voter registration and WIC rights & obligations, in accordance with WIC policies and procedures. Issue WIC benefits in accordance with WIC policies and procedures. Input all WIC related data into the WIC database. Make face‑to‑face and telephone appointments using both the WOW scheduler and the site‑specific appointment template. Conduct hemoglobin testing and take height and weight measurements of WIC participants. Participate in community outreach services and community/faith‑based initiatives. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Three (3) full years of clerical experience performing data entry activities, database maintenance, and general office services support, preferably in a health care services setting. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Ability to speak Spanish or Creole is an asset. Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing; no special vision requirements; must be able to exert force up to 35 pounds.
