Check out the Pregis Purpose to learn how sustainability and social responsibility is at the very core of our company DNA.Converting OperatorThe Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the production team by providing administrative assistance, maintaining a clean work environment, and assisting with various production tasks. Assistant Operators are expected to assist the Operator in running their assigned machines safely in accordance with published work instructions and deliver quality product to plan. This role involves handling finished products and conducting basic quality testing. Additionally, the Assistant ensures that all tasks on the end-of-shift paperwork are completed for each line before the end of the shift. They also understand and follow all BRC, GMP, and PPE policies and ensure a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures.ResponsibilitiesSet-up and operate converting lines and support high-quality product.Reviews order specifications to ensure the packaging supplies and raw materials are available to produce a product that meets the customer's specifications.Observes and checks finished goods coming off the production lines and takes immediate corrective action to eliminate the causes of a sub-standard product.Remove and package finished rolls from machine.Monitors equipment to ensure it is operating properly and under shift supervisor oversight performs routine troubleshooting and operator-level maintenance on equipment.Complete daily production paperwork and troubleshoot stoppages and breakdowns.Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, may train team members operating procedures, safety, and quality policy procedures.Periodically follow-up with new hires and temporary workers to ensure they are properly trained.Identifies opportunities for improvement in the Converting Department and assist's Supervisors, who are responsible for hands-on training.Learn and comprehend all equipment so adjustments can be made if/when needed.Competency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)Ability to read a ruler, scale, and micrometer.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality.Works successfully independently and collaboratively across teams.Problem Solving / Analytical thinking.Team leading/coaching in quality related scenarios.Organizational Skills.Time Management.Customer/Client Focus.Collaboration / Team Player.Report/Procedure Reading and Writing.Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Adaptability to changing work environments and tasks.Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or credentialed equivalent.Bachelors preferred in Science Related Field.1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Position TypeFull time.Overtime expected per business demand.Physical RequirementsAdhere to physical requirements, including being able to continuously lift 30lbs, and be on your feet for 8 hours.Diversity and InclusionWe believe in diversity of thought and bringing together other traits and characteristics that make an individual bring a unique experience to Pregis.
