Job Summary:

Using a family-centered parent educational model, within the confines of a natural environment, a Lead Developmental Specialist will develop and facilitate activities promoting the overall development of children with disabilities and their families. This position provides home-based instruction and case management/service coordination to children under the age of three with disabilities under the Part C federal regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). In addition, this position trains new Developmental Specialists, provides ongoing training and support to current Developmental Specialists (DS), and travels to Reno for caseload coverage when needed. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  

• Support management with the training of new Development Specialists. 
• Provide ongoing MDT Training to all Developmental Specialists.
• Provide coverage of MDT’s as needed during DS absences.
• Manage a caseload and follow deadlines for each child; schedule and attend all mandated reviews for each child; complete documentation in NEIDS as required, coordinate services for each child; audit each child’s file regularly to ensure proper services are being provided. 
• Participate in supervision meetings with program management. 
• Attend and provide information as needed for staff meetings. 
• Help with audits and compliance by preparing files and serving as guidance points for auditors. 
• Travel between Las Vegas and Reno as needed to provide program coverage and support. 
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work on a daily basis with people that may have severe, profound and/or multiple disabilities. 

Qualifications (education, training, experience, licenses)

• Bachelor’s degree early childhood, special education, human growth and development, psychology, counseling, social work or a closely related field?required. 
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a developmental specialist. 
• Minimum of one (1) year experience working with children birth to 3.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience working with children with disabilities.
• Completion of Endorsement Requirements for Early Childhood Developmentally Delayed. 
• CPR and First Aid Certification required. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required. 
• Valid Nevada driver’s license required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, frequently talk or hear, reach with hands, lift arms above and below shoulder level, occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. On regular occasions lift and/or move up to 50lbs and can request assistance if needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision. 

Working Conditions

This position requires up to 50% travel within Las Vegas and up to 25% travel to Reno. This position will be in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, poor air quality and wet or humid conditions, etc.
